Sign of Life

It has been a long time since I last found time to publish something here in my humble little blog.
So what did I do over the last 2 months.
Actually I found the time to paint some Cowboys and Mexican bandits for my Legends of the Old West games. And tataaa i finally found the last missing book on Ebay. All I need is some more models from 4ground. For those who do not know. 4ground makes lasercut houses for various things. The great thing is that they are prepainted so the only thing to do is fix them with some blobs of woodglue. I have 2 of them and am urgently looking for some more. maybe at the crisis show in Antwerp this year.
At the moment I am counting the last days towards my holiday trip to Mallorca Spain.
Ohhh and before I forget expect some more mexican Bandits for my litle figure range Coal Ridge Models. At the moment I am collecting poses for some mounted bandits. So like my last series the will be more Hollywood style but can also be used for the war of Pancho Villar in Mexico, and of course they will be 20mm.
As out sculptor is very busy at the moment sculpting models for our shop Hagen Miniatures I expect them to be ready for Christmas.

FIGZ 2014

Here are some pics from the FIGZ show in Arnhem Netherlands. FIGZ is more like a big club meeting.
This year there were three traders. Miniatuurwereld from the Netherlands selling mostly plastic figure sets, then Fredericus Rex. He is specialised in everything to liven up the gamestables. from lasercut houses, to plants, gravel.... you know what I mean. Last but not least Andy and I were there with our Hagen Miniatures stand selling heavy metal for the miniatures collectors.
FIGZ is great when you want a show just to chat a bit about painting techniques and other to and fro.

Lake Town from The Hobbit movie. All is scrath build. This was really an eye catcher. The chaps were right next to our table so much time to marvel at all the bridges and platforms.

28mm Pegasus bridge game. I think they played using Bolt Action but did not know for sure

20mm WWII action. This was are really big table. Some Arnhem action, well FIGZ happens to be in Arnhem....rules used were Rapid Fire.

it was quite a hot day.temperatures up to 28C and nothing that spends the slightest shadow. To make things really worse I was there via car. So no cold beer for me.
Anyway we had some great fun and me catching my first sunburn for this years season.
Next weekend I will be attending FIGZ in Arnhem / Netherlands togehter with Andy from Hagen Miniatures.

Out on the battlefield

Around one and a half weeks ago I was with two friends from my club at Grefrath/Germany. There was the anual meeting of a napoleonic reenactor group who show the uniforms of the Lützower Free Corps.
Here are some pics.

Main entrance to the camp site. Not too big but lots of nice people explaning near everything to us history nerds

A table full of uniforms,guns and other regalia. Great to see even the smallest parts of material the soldiers did carry around. You get a real feeling for the period when thinking what a load of things to carry around.
I was a service man myself and even with the things we had this is no fun.

A gun team in action. Although this is no fancy 12 pounder as often seen on our tabletop battlefields but a 6 pounder howitzer this little beauty did make a terrible earth shattering noise. We stood around 10 metters away and you could feel the earth shake even though the did not shoot solid shot and even this was filled up with flour to soften up things as all "tourists" stood only a few meters away. One of the gunners later told us that on bigger fields they sometimes use wooden flock instead of flour which gives a much bigger bang. But as the show here was rather small this was much too dangerous.

A group of Infantry. These chaps are really a heavens send when it comes to ask about their uniforms. Whether it is regulation dress or campaign style they knew every answer.
