Some models I made for various armies

As I am always collecting and painting for various things/armies here are some new and not so new models I made.
The Old marauder Minis Treeman. I like these more than the newer ones as these in my humble opinion look more like a montrous tree. I have two of these but actually the other one is not painted. It is part of my growing Wood Elves (same say Tree Huggars) Army. Most of the models in these Army are from Citadel and Marauder back in the 80s. The newer Ones are too comical in my opinion.
An old GW Chaos Dwarf. Back in the 80s there were a lot of them available. They once were part of the Chaos Army back when 3ed was the rule to play. Sadly they once growed into there own Army in the Nineties. Remember the ones with the cylinder Hats?? Very comical Army.

A beastmen and a Plaguebearer. Also from the 80s. Gw then had beastmen specifically for one of the four chaos powers. The One above it a Khorne Champion for the beastmen. The Plaquebearer wait for his shiny hardcoat to lookmore sinister and of course ---slimey----

These Confederates where painted by my around 20 years ago. They are all from Dixon. A maker who ranks very high in my wants list. Every yearat salute I visit his small stand to buy some models. During the last years these were mostly from the Wild West and French and Indian Wars range. I use them with the Legends of the Old West rules. The Confederates simply decorate my DVD shelves. I never played with them but had so much fun chosing the right models for this firing line. All are different.

Escher Ganger for Necromunda. Well the first one is actually for the Sisters of Battle Army but I choose to use her for my Escher Gang.

Back again....

So here I am. Back from the thing that`s happening while you are making plans for the hobby. This thing is called life. As some of you might know I have a 6 day working week in a shop so might for some reasons not always find the time to do something here. So please forgive me for beiing absent for such a long time.
But now for something completely different.
What have I done over the last weeks?? Some working on my not so new Hobby Space.

Well I manage to photo the nice parts. My workbench is (as it should be) always littered with half finished models. The scanner beneath models, flock, etc. and you can see why I am such a bad Ego-Shooter Player. No Space for the mouse.
As this looks a bit larger weel to keep you jealous these are in reality four rooms. Around two years ago for my wife and me a dream came true. We bought some more rooms in the house where we live. For me 4 rooms complete for the hobby and for my wife no more little spikey soldier thingys in the living room. Well almost. So while money is there and time I work at my personal little construction site and other living space. When this is all complete we can also host visitors here.

These Trolls are from Old Glory. Yepp they had a fantasy range a while ago. I painted them for my growing Greenskins Army.
My trusty Goblin shaman. My dream is a complete Forrest Goblin Army. At them moment these consist of around 20 New Spider Riders together with some foot sloggers (around 10) and of course the shaman and I also own the old Marauder Chieftain on Giant Spider. For me the old marauder an Citadel models have a certain charme so from time to time I buy some when I have the chance. I do not play warhammer at the moment. Simply because all my club mates play Flames of War or Bolt action at the moment. So i play Russians in Bolt action. A bit like orks loads of footsloggers and of course they are green.
In the not so distand time I bought some fantasy models. Whithin the box where two of these demons. Ipainted one and the other lies snorking on my lead mountain. I do not know the make but simply like the kind of sculpting.

Perry French Nappie Dragoons. I bought them 2012 at Salute. They are nice litte models, and the box has mounted and dismounted models inside. I want to use them for skirmish gaming using Legends of the Old West and the amendments from the Alamo Book.

An old school terminator. Well I love Space Hulk. For me this is the perfect game. Easy set up. Easy rules and just a few models to paint.

Under the reading lamp 2

Through the last days I have been reading this book from Ian Knight. It is a quite heavy book in many ways. First more than 700 pages and also very detailed with some very nice black and white pics. If you are looking for a book about uniforms then forget it. This is an in death analysis of the various things happening before during and after the battle of Isandlwana. It starts with King Shaka and his rising to power through his encounters with the different white people and the one that came after him till Cetswayo. But it not only shines a light on the Zulu but also on the other ethnic groups living in South Africa. I do not only mean black people but also the various whites. Boers, Traders, Hunters and also the representatives of the British Crown. Why all this was inevitable and the roles all these people play in African history.
It also gives a very detaled account of the ways of recruitment the different formations and ways of deployment in battle not only of the British but also the Zulu. You read about why the trusty Red Line fails to stop the horde of Zulu Warriors and dramatic details hat did eally happened through accounts of witnesses.
For the wargamer in us you will find the biggest list of Zulu names for the different Officers and Regiments hints about detailing the games and pushing rules maybe in a different direction. For those with a shortage of space you read about parts of the battle and get hints about recreating on your tabletop. Some what if's like what if Lord Chelmsford have known the deployment of the Zulu some time before and not only when the did arrive so short to the camp?? Could Anthony Durnford men make a change if the had more time and space for their fall back manouver?? Or did he just needed more men?? And last but not least could one or more battalions with Colonel Pulleine make a drastic difference??
Highly recommended book also for those not overmuch interested in colonial warfare.

Under the reading lamp...

Well it was mor on the trainride to work the last week.
I bought this book from Paul Meekins books at this years salute among others. What cought my eye was that this is a book about the old classic models I bought an build during my childhood days (concerning my wife I am still in my childhood days but this is another story) and am still building from time to time today.
This marvellous book gives a short outline of the history of the kits (with pics of old packages) and them dives straight into converting and building them. For the wargamer most conversions need time and patience and sometimes the help of Matado Models converting kits.
For those that simply want to build a force fast for gaming and put them straight onto the table this book is a no brainer. On the other hand if you like Hobby-History and like to build the model no one else has or personalize your little plastic force this is a must have book.
Some things are easy to make like the conversions of the WWI tanks others like rebuildbing whole models are quite challenging. Anyway I like this books and hope that others (beside the other 5 about planes) will hit the stores. Maybe converting plastic soldiers like in the old time of Airfix Magazine in the 60s and 70s...
We will see..

Sooo silent....

Well I have been a bit absent from the hobby comunity for some time. The question is why?Well my other great love (wife???) eeerrrmmm no the other other which is my favourite soccer team ( we call it Fußball - football) is going though a very hard time. Although we played a quite good season in the middle filed of the second league. The German Football Ass. did not give u the permission to play there next season because of some really strange reasons. So the last days it was standing with the other at stadium ( 10 mins walk) and show stripes ( we are called the Zebras) for our club. Many supporters of the other clubs from the Ruhr area were there with us. It is wonderful to stand together with all of them even though they are the "enemies on the field" the next time. And everybody is chanting some little tunes about the others just to make sure they do not win.
A bit like "enemies on the field - united in believe" - sorry dfor my bad english today. Some beers too much.

Maybe the next days I can post some new pics from the projects I am working on ( o.k. just a bit work and do not drink and paint ;-> )
Or it ends like this:
